Gopher WBB opens up WBIT with a win

(Toledo, OH) — The University of Minnesota women’s basketball team controlled most of the game and beat Toledo last night in the opening round of the W-B-I-T by a score of 65-53. Three Golden Gophers scored in double figures, led by junior guard Amaya Battle’s 18 points. Sophomore guard Grace Grocholski netted 15 points, while senior center chipped in with 14. Minnesota led by as many as 15 points in the fourth quarter. The Gophers are now 21-11 on the season and will visit Missouri State on Sunday for a second-round game in the tourney. The 26-8 Bears beat Oral Roberts last night 107-76. Sunday’s game in Springfield, Missouri will tip off at 2 P-M.
