Gopher Womens and Mens Hockey lose

(St. Paul, MN/Minnesota News Network) — The fourth-ranked University of Minnesota women’s hockey team lost to second-rated Ohio State in the W-C-H-A Final Faceoff Semifinals last night 4-0. The Golden Gophers allowed a goal in each of the first two periods before O-S-U scored twice in the third to put the contest away. The Buckeyes will take on top-ranked Wisconsin in the W-C-H-A Final Faceoff title game tomorrow at 2 P-M. The Badgers beat number-15 Minnesota State-Mankato 7-2. The Mavericks end their season with a 17-19-and-2 record. Meanwhile, the 26-11-and-1 Gophers will find out where they will placed in the N-C-A-A Tournament on Sunday. (Minneapolis, MN/Minnesota News Network) — The Golden Gopher men’s hockey team had a rough night on its home ice last night, losing to second-ranked Michigan State 7-1. The visiting Spartans scored four goals in the second period to break the game open. The victory secured a regular season Big Ten title for Michigan State. Minnesota forward Tanner Ludtke of Lakeville scored the lone Gopher goal. The Gophers are now 11-21-and-2 overall and 7-15-and-1 in the Big Ten. Michigan State is 25-7-and-1 overall and 16-6-and-1 in the conference. The final regular season game of the year is tonight at 7 P-M at 3-M Arena at Mariucci in Minneapolis.
