Gopher Womens Basketball beat Florida, will play for WBIT Championship
(Indianapolis, IN) — The University of Minnesota women’s basketball team has advanced to the championship game of the W-B-I-T after yesterday’s 66-52 semifinal victory over Florida. Four Golden Gophers scored in double figures, led by sophomore guard Grace Grocholski with 20 points. She was 4-for-6 from three-point range. Freshman Tori McKinney added 14 points, while junior guard Amaya Battle added ten points. Minnesota junior forward Mallory Heyer of Chaska registered a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds. The Gopher defense held the Gators to 35-percent shooting for the game and allowed just 23 second half Florida points. The 23-11 Golden Gophers will face Belmont in the title game tomorrow night at 5 P-M. Belmont beat Villanova in the other semifinal yesterday.
