Gopher Womens BB advances to WBIT Final 4

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Golden Gopher women’s basketball team beat Gonzaga 82-77 in overtime last night at Williams Arena in a W-B-I-T quarterfinal game. Minnesota junior point guard Amaya Battle had a career-high 35 points and ten rebounds. Freshman Tori McKinney added 19 points and sophomore Grace Grocholski chipped in with 18 points. Minnesota raced out to an early nine-point lead before the visiting Bulldogs outscored the Gophers 19-9 in the second quarter to go to into the locker room leading by one. A back-and-forth second half ended in a tie and the Gophers won the extra frame. Gonzaga finished the year at 24-11. The 23-11 Golden Gophers now advance to the W-B-I-T semifinals, which will be played at Hinkle Field House in Indianapolis next week. Minnesota will play Florida on Monday night.
