Gopher Womens BB gets back on winning track
(Minneapolis, MN) — The Golden Gopher women’s basketball team raced out to a 20-8 lead after one quarter and never looked back, beating Jackson State last night at Williams Arena 81-43. Minnesota improved to 11-1 on the season, bouncing back from Sunday’s loss at Nebraska. The visiting Tigers fell to 1-8 on the year. Gopher freshman Tori McKinney led the way with 14 points, while Mallory Heyer scored 12 points and Grace Groholski added nine. Gopher guard Taylor Woodson suffered an injury early in the game and there should be an update on her at some point in the future. Minnesota will return to action a week from tomorrow by welcoming Prairie View A&M to Williams Arena. Meanwhile, the Gopher men are off until a week from Saturday when they host Farleigh Dickinson.
