Gopher Womens BB in WBIT tonight

(Minneapolis, MN) — The University of Minnesota women’s basketball team is hosting a W-B-I-T quarterfinal game tonight at Williams Arena. The 22-11 Golden Gophers are playing host to the 24-10 Gonzaga Bulldogs. Minnesota advanced to tonight’s contest with a 78-71 win at Missouri State on Sunday, while Gonzaga used a 64-55 road win on Sunday at Colorado to advance. Golden Gopher head coach Dawn Plitzuweit says after playing two road games in this tourney, it is “great to be at home.” She says she’s hoping to draw a great crowd tonight. The visiting Bulldogs are led by forward Yvonne Ejim, who is averaging 20.6-points and 9.1-rebounds per game. This will be the first all-time meeting between these two programs. Tonight’s winning team will advance to the W-B-I-T semifinals at Hinkle Field House in Indianapolis next week to take on the winner of tonight’s game between Florida and Texas Tech. The semifinals start on Monday night.
