Gophers Add Record-Setting Kicker to Special-Teams Competition

The Minnesota Gophers have added former New Mexico kicker Luke Drzewiecki to the competition for their starting job.

Drzewiecki made 18-of-19 field-goal attempts last season. His 94-point-7-percent success rate set a New Mexico single-season record and ranked among the best marks in college football.

He also finished his Lobos career as the program’s all-time leader in kicking points. Drzewiecki previously worked with Daniel Da Prato, who became Minnesota’s special-teams coordinator during the offseason.

The Gophers have not named a starting kicker. Minnesota opens its season against Eastern Illinois September 3rd in Minneapolis
