Gophers’ Smith honored off the field

Gophers defensive lineman Anthony Smith has been named a nominee for the 2026 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. The honor recognizes college football players for community service and leadership away from the field. Smith is also coming off a standout season on it, after leading the Big Ten with 12-and-a-half sacks in 2025. Minnesota says he has taken part in volunteer efforts including school visits, youth camps, and community outreach, adding another preseason honor to his résumé.
