Highway Patrol Warns Drivers After 12 Traffic Deaths

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is urging drivers to use extra caution following a deadly start to August.

The patrol says 12 people died in traffic crashes across the state during the first six days of the month.

Officials are asking motorists to slow down, wear seat belts and avoid driving while impaired or distracted. Drivers are also reminded to remain alert for increased summer and Sturgis Rally traffic. South Dakota traffic-safety resources
