House GOP applauds ruling for Colleges

(St. Paul, MN/Minnesota News Network) — Minnesota House Republican leaders are applauding a judge’s ruling that challenged a 2023 law that sought to strip faith-based universities from participating in the state’s Post-Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) program. The University of Northwestern in Roseville and Crown College in St. Bonifacious require students to sign a statement of faith in order to take part in the program which allows high school students to earn college credits. The Department of Education had tried to ban the faith statement, and the legislature passed the law in 2023. In this latest ruling, the judge called it an unconstitutional violation of religious freedom. Republican House Speaker Lisa Demuth says the ruling is a win for “religious liberty.”
