Hutchinson and Silver Lake Candidate Forums

Hutchinson-area voters will have an opportunity to learn more about local candidates for the Hutchinson City Council, McLeod County Board of Commissioners and Minnesota House of Representatives at a forum set for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23.

The forum is being held at Hutchinson City Center, 111 Hassan St. SE.
The question-and-answer event is sponsored by the Hutchinson Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism and Hutchinson Station.  Chamber President Valerie Mackenthun will moderate.
Questions will be prepared in advance.

The public has two options to witness the event: attend in person, or view it on HVCN Channel 7.
Candidates who have confirmed their attendance include:

  • Hutchinson Mayor: Gary Forcier, running unopposed,
  • Hutchinson City Council Seat 3: Patrick May, running unopposed,
  • Hutchinson City Council Seat 4: Chad Czmowski and Troy Pullis,
  • McLeod County Commissioners District 3: Doyle Benson and Paul Wright,
  • McLeod County Commissioners District 4: Lori Cacka, running unopposed, and
  • State Representative District 17A: Dawn Gillman and Chad Tschimperle.

Candidates for the Hutchinson School District 423 Board will be questioned at a forum this Wednesday (Oct. 9) at 6pm at the Hutchinson City Center (click here for more information). A video recording of that event is scheduled to be on HCVN Channel 7.

 

The Silver Lake Lions & Silver Lake Women’s Club are hosting a meet the candidates night on Thursday, October 24 at 7pm in the upper level of the Silver Lake Auditorium.

Meeting format:

The evening will begin promptly at 7 p.m. the moderator will give an outline to the audience.  Each candidate will have 1 ½ minutes to talk; who they are and what they see as their campaign issues (there will be a person designated as a timer). After candidates for each office have concluded their statements each will have 30 seconds for any issues they may have.

Order of the evening:

Silver Lake City Council candidates; Silver Lake Mayor candidates

Glencoe-Silver Lake School Board candidates

County Commissioner District 1

After all formal presentations have concluded there will be an informal opportunity for the audience to meet the candidates.

Refreshments will be served during the meeting by the Silver Lake Women’s Club.
