Hutchinson Looking at Allowing Raising Chickens in Town

The Hutchinson City Council Tuesday night began discussion on whether to change the city ordinance to allow residents to raise chickens.

The question has been brought before the council several times but has always been denied for lack of support.

This time may be different.

Many supporters were on hand at the meeting and council members also said, for the most part, they’ve received support for the idea.

In 2019, an ordinance was drafted that failed but the council will be fine tuning that ordinance and bringing it back to the council for consideration.
