Hutchinson Man Reports Check Fraud

Police are investigating after a Hutchinson man reported earlier this month that a check he had placed in his outgoing mail to pay a bill was stolen, altered and cashed.

He told police that the intended recipient never received the check.

He said the check was originally written to a credit card company in the amount of $4,604.

The check was altered to be written to an individual and was successfully deposited to the individual’s account by mobile transfer.
