Increase in Small Game and Fishing Activity Doesn’t Lead to Higher Success Rates
The fall hunting season is in full swing. Area conservation officers say hunters have reported mixed results.
Conservation Officer Jeremy Woinarowicz in Thief River Falls says “success rates seemed lower than average” for area anglers and small game hunters. He says enforcement action has been taken for ATV registration and light violations as well as for operating a motor vehicle in a closed area of WMA and transporting a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle.
Conservation Officer Sarah Jahn in Thief River Falls reports that she conducted a wolf depredation investigation. Time was also spent speaking to a high school class about evidence collection with the State Patrol. A complaint of permanent structures on a Wildlife Management Area was taken and investigated. Also, assistance was given to Marshall County regarding a tractor fire.
Conservation Officer Nick Bruesewitz in Karlstad says he “spent the week checking waterfowl hunters with mixed success.” He says additional time was spent investigating big game violations. Enforcement action was taken for operating an ATV without registration.
