Empowering Communities, Celebrating Minnesota Locally

It’s Severe Weather Awareness Week in Minnesota

Weather Alerts are Monday’s topic. The National Weather Service issues Watches, Warnings, and Advisories.

Watches mean that conditions are favorable for the development of severe weather or tornadoes, and warnings mean that severe weather or tornadoes are occurring, likely to occur, or are imminent. Advisories and special weather statements may come from the National Weather Service for storms that will impact an area but don’t quite meet warning criteria.

Severe Weather Awareness Week is promoted by the National Weather Service, Minnesota Department of Public Safety and local Emergency Management Agencies.
