James Joseph Brown

James Joseph Brown, age 85 of Green Isle passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia, MN. He was surrounded in love by his wife, Rosemarie and their three daughters.

Jim was a very easygoing and caring person who loved his family and loved sharing a laugh, joke or talking about sports with anyone. His life was rich with hobbies that spoke to his love for the outdoors. Jim was an avid fisherman and hunter and cherished those experiences with his family and friends. He especially cherished his coonhound days and his trips up north for deer hunting, bear hunting and fishing. If he wasn’t out fishing with his cane pole, he could also be found spending time with others bowling, playing cards or working on their hobby farm. His words of wisdom to his daughters growing up was always “Be Nice,” which is exactly the kind of person he was. Jim was born on December 24, 1938, to Francis and Elsie (Wiemann) Brown in Washington Lake Township, Sibley County, MN. Jim grew up in the Green Isle area and attended Norwood and Arlington Schools, graduating from Arlington High School in 1956. He then entered the United States Army and served for two years. Part of that time was abroad in Germany. He met the love of his life and married Rosemarie Beaudette at St. George Catholic Church in Minneapolis on August 9, 1969. They lived and raised their family on a hobby farm near Green Isle. Jim worked as a Partsman (and hey baler mechanic) at Lano Equipment for nearly 50 years retiring in 2008. He was a member of the Green Isle St. Arthur’s Council of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife Rosemarie; daughters, Michelle (Corey) Carlson of Fargo, ND, Lisa Brown of St. Louis Park, MN and Julie (Todd) Tuchtenhagen of Belle Plaine, MN. Six grandchildren; Cadie Carlson, Aubrey and Megan Mitchell and Aiden, Isabel and Elsie Tuchtenhagen. Brothers, Dan (Pam) Brown of Green Isle and sister, Patricia (Elwood) Pedersen of Grand Rapids, MN. Along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, John “Jack” Brown and sister Elizabeth “Betty” Tebbitt. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church, Green Isle, MN. A burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at the Kolden Funeral Home in Arlington from 4:00 p.m. ~ 7:00 p.m. also, one hour prior to the Mass at church on Friday morning. Lunch will follow the burial services at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Social Hall following the burial service in Green Isle, MN.
