Jaylen Brown scores 29 points before Celtics beat Timberwolves 107-105 with late defensive stand
BOSTON, MA – On Sunday, the Boston Celtics held off a late rally from the Minnesota Timberwolves to secure a 107-105 victory, extending their winning streak to five games. Jaylen Brown led the Celtics early, scoring their first 15 points with five consecutive 3-pointers, and finished with 29 points. Jayson Tatum added 26 points and 8 rebounds to contribute significantly to the win.
For the Timberwolves, Anthony Edwards led the charge with 28 points and 9 rebounds, while Julius Randle added 23 points and Rudy Gobert posted a double-double with 10 points and 20 rebounds. Despite Minnesota’s strong push in the second half, including a 14-0 run to cut the Celtics’ lead to just 55-54 early in the third, Boston responded with a series of 3-pointers, including two from Tatum, pushing the lead to 79-60.
The Timberwolves mounted a comeback in the fourth quarter, closing the gap to 107-105 with 34 seconds remaining on a driving layup by Randle, but Boston held firm to win.
Looking ahead, the Timberwolves will host the Houston Rockets on Tuesday in NBA Cup play, beginning a four-game homestand, while the Celtics will face the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday night.
