Jeanette H. Hopes
Jeanette H. Hopes, age 95 of Le Sueur, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at Ridgeview
Medical Center in Le Sueur. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 4-6 P.M. at
Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur.
Jeanette was born on August 22, 1930, to Floyd and Mildred (Parks) DeMaris in Dennison,
Minnesota. She attended country school near Park Rapids, where she developed the strong work
ethic and kind heart that would define her throughout her life.
Jeanette married young and welcomed two children, Gary and Sherri. Later, she married William
"Bill" Hopes in 1956. Together they made their home in Le Sueur, where they raised their family
with the addition of their daughters; Annie, Linda and Lori.
Throughout her life, Jeanette worked in restaurants and cleaned homes, but the role she treasured
most was being a mother and homemaker. She poured her heart into every meal she cooked,
every batch of baked goods she shared, and every jar she carefully canned. She had a remarkable
gift for making everyone feel welcome. She never judged others and accepted people exactly as
they were, displaying kindness and warmth to anyone who crossed her path. To know Jeanette
was to feel loved. Friends quickly became family, and family always knew they had a safe place
with her.
Jeanette’s grandchildren held an especially special place in her heart. Grandma Jeanette's house
was a place where sleepovers were never turned down, laughter filled the rooms, and everyone
knew they were cherished. She rarely, if ever, said "no" to her grandchildren, creating memories
they will carry with them forever.
In her later years, Jeanette made her home at Sunrise Plaza in Le Sueur. She formed lasting
friendships with neighbors and staff who became like family. She enjoyed bingo, arts and crafts,
visiting with friends, and brightening the days of those around her with her sweet smile and
caring nature.
Jeanette is survived by her children, Gary (Cheryl) Einertson of Shieldsville, MN, Linda (Don)
Coil of Le Sueur, MN, and Lori Casey of Le Sueur, MN; 15 grandchildren and 24 great-
grandchildren; sisters, Eileen and Rosemary; cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends &
extended family members from Sunrise Plaza.
She is preceded in death by her parents; several siblings; husband, William “Bill” (2012);
daughters, Sherri Rossiter and Annie Evans; son-in-law, Thomas
