Joan Ellen (Symons) Rosetter Death Notice

Joan Ellen (Symons) Rosetter, age 84, of Granite Falls, MN passed away at Fountain Springs Healthcare in Rapid City, SD on February 10, 2024. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm Sunday, July 21, 2024, at Bergen Lutheran Church, in Granite Falls, MN.

Joan was born on February 14, 1939 in Langdon, ND to George Symons and Ann (Rourke) Symons.  She was the oldest of five children.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Rosetter; father and mother, George and Ann; sister, Bette (Symons) Peterson; and brother, Glen Symons.   She is survived by her brother, James Symons; a sister, Diane (Symons) Anders; plus her children, grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joan graduated from Langdon High School in 1957 as salutatorian.  While in high school, she was active in band, choir, student council, and newspaper.  She sang in the girls’ sextette and was a delegate to Flickertail Girls’ State.  She was in the play, “The Little Red Schoolhouse”.  She was Worthy Advisor to the Order of Rainbow for Girls, Langdon Assembly No. 8.  She graduated from Macalester College in 1961 with a B.A.  She received her teacher’s certification for Grades 7-12 English and History.   She spent a few years teaching in Granite Falls, MN and Wood Lake, MN.  She married Richard Rosetter in 1962.  She and Richard farmed outside of Granite Falls, MN and raised their two children, Luann and David.  Joan was an active member of Bergen Lutheran Church.  In 1977, she made her solo flight at the Montevideo Airport in one of the three original Beechcraft Musketeers.  In 1999, she was initiated into The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International.

Joan enjoyed family, friends, swimming, traveling, reading, dogs, making quilts, playing bridge, and playing piano.
