Joann Fabrics Closing 500 Stores/12 in MN
(CNN) – Joann Fabrics is closing 500 stores leaving just 300 remaining open nationwide.
The company said the closures are necessary as it navigates the bankruptcy process.
Joann filed for bankruptcy last month, the second time it did so in a year.
It first filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in March 2024 but was able to stay afloat after becoming a private company.
The retailer blames the current filing on severe and unexpected inventory issues.
A dozen stores in Minnesota, and one in North Dakota are slated to close.
