Kandiyohi County Scams

Officials in Kandiyohi County are warning residents of scams involving families of jailed inmates.

The Sheriff’s Office says the latest scam involves individuals making contact with families of someone in jail and falsely stating their loved one had a process change and could now be bailed out if they paid some fees.

Another scam falsely says the inmate is eligible for electric home monitoring if a fee was paid.

Authorities advise that before making a payment, you should check that it is a real thing by taking down the caller’s information for a possible call back, then make your own call to jail staff to confirm it is true.
