Kent C. O’Neil
Kent O’Neil, age 83 of Starbuck, Minnesota, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2024, at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Visitation for Kent O’Neil will be held Thursday, August 22, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck, MN.
Visitation will continue from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glenwood, MN.
Memorial Mass for Kent Charles O’Neil will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glenwood, MN.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Glenwood, MN.
Kent Charles O’Neil was born on July 1, 1941, in Winnebago, Minnesota the son of Francis and Virginia (Springer) O’Neil. He grew up in the Blue Earth area and graduated from Blue Earth High School, Class of 1959. He attended Minnesota School of Business studying accounting.
On August 10, 1968, he married Kay Rutledge in Benson, Minnesota. The couple made their home in the Twin Cities. In 1973, they moved to Farwell to farm and in 1975 they moved to Starbuck and had a dairy farm.
Kent worked in accounting at the courthouse in Glenwood, farmed, worked at Cenex in Starbuck and worked as a farmhand for various farmers.
He enjoyed riding horses, tractors, watching westerns, playing cards, camping, and washing his vehicles by hand. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Kent was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glenwood and the Glacial Ridge Riders.
He is survived by his wife 56 years: Kay O’Neil of Starbuck, MN; children: Daniel O’Neil of Starbuck, MN, Maria (John) Brezina of Alexandria, MN, Timothy (Wendy) O’Neil of Glenwood, MN, and James O’Neil of Garfield, MN; sisters: Jeannine O’Neil of Concord, California, and Rosalyn (Eugene) Crossen of Richfield, MN; sister-in-law: Linda O’Neil of Winnebago, MN; and grandchildren: Mekinze (Seth) Hegge, Skyler (Hannah) Goodrow, Julia O’Neil, Savanna Rogge, Tristan O’Neil, Chance O’Neil, Bryson O’Neil, and Demitri O’Neil.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Francis and Virginia; and three brothers: Jerry (Corrine) O’Neil, Dennis O’Neil, and Kiernan O’Neil.
