Kirilloff retires
(Minneapolis, MN) — Twins outfielder Alex Kirilloff announced on Thursday that he is retiring from baseball and has been placed on the Voluntarily Retired List. Kirilloff, 26, hit .248 (198-for-799) in 249 games across four seasons with the Twins including 27 homers, 116 R-B-I eight doubles and three triples. The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native was limited to just 57 games in 2024 due to a back injury. In a statement through the Twins, Kirilloff said: “After nine seasons in professional baseball, I’m announcing my decision to step away from the game today. As I navigate the recovery process for my current lower back injury, I’m excited to focus more on my family and explore new opportunities. While this next chapter won’t take place on the field, my story is far from over.” Kirilloff was a first round pick (15th overall) by the Twins in 2016.
