Lakeville Man Gets 6½ Years in Feeding Our Future Case
A Lakeville man has been sentenced to six-and-a-half years in federal prison for his role in the Feeding Our Future fraud scheme.
Thirty-four-year-old Abdinasir Mahamed Abshir pleaded guilty to wire fraud. Prosecutors say his Mankato food site received more than five-point-four-million dollars after falsely claiming it served about one-point-six-million meals to children.
The sentence also accounted for Abshir’s attempt to tamper with a cooperating witness. He is the 23rd defendant sentenced in the 250-million-dollar case. (U.S. Department of Justice)
