Last Chance to Join the Lakes and Prairies Solar Co-op This Year

The deadline is coming up to sign up for the Lakes and Prairies Solar Co-op. Homeowners, small businesses, nonprofits, churches, and businesses have until Tuesday, June 30 to join and learn more about what a solar project could look like.

The solar co-op is free to join, and there is no obligation to purchase solar panels. The program brings neighbors together to use group buying power to help secure competitive pricing on solar installations, while also offering guidance from Solar United Neighbors and community members who have already made the switch to solar.

Participants may also be able to take advantage of available incentives, including a 30% tax credit for nonprofits, churches, and businesses, as well as a state battery backup incentive of $250 per kilowatt-hour, up to $7,000 per system.

Battery backup systems can provide power during outages and add energy resilience for homes, businesses, and nonprofit organizations.

The Lakes and Prairies Solar Co-op is supported by West Central Initiative and Solar United Neighbors.
