Lincoln, NE Legion Champion

Legion World Series wrap up last night in Shelby, North Carolina. Lincoln, Nebraska was crown champion with a 9 to 6 win over Portland, Oregon. Lincoln was down 6 to 1 after 2 1/2, then scores three runs in the third, then scored four runs in the fourth to take the lead and never looked back.

Twins win:

The Minnesota Twins took down the Atlanta Braves 4-1 last night at Target Field, securing a series win against one of the top teams in Major League Baseball. Minnesota starter Zebby Matthews was credited with the victory after striking out four batters over five and two-thirds. He allowed five hits and fanned four. Josh Bell clubbed a two-run homer in the first inning, while Ryan Jeffers belted a two-run double in the eighth. Minnesota has won back-to-back games and hopes to sweep the three-game set today. The 62-65 Twins will start right-hander Taj Bradley, coverage begins at 12pm on KNUJ and SAM 107.3.

Lynx in action tonight:

The Minnesota Lynx are one of the hottest teams in the W-N-B-A, holding the league’s best record at 29-7. Minnesota has won four straight games entering tonight’s battle at Golden State. The host Valkyies own the second-best record in the W-N-B-A at 25-9. Golden State has won six games in a row and 15 of its past 17. Tonight’s game tips off at 9 P-M.

Vikings/Ravens begin joint practice:

The Minnesota Vikings and Baltimore Ravens are set to have a big week in Eagan. The two clubs will take part in joint practices today and tomorrow at the Vikings’ team headquarters before playing against each other in a preseason game at U-S Bank Stadium on Saturday at noon.  Both workouts are open to the public.
