Local Area Schools Post Strong Results at State Trap Championship

West-central Minnesota high school trap teams turned in one of the strongest collective weeks at the 2026 Minnesota State Trap Shooting Championship, held June 15–23 at Alexandria Shooting Park.

Seven area schools from the KMRS listening area posted podium finishes, team titles, and individual High Gun awards across multiple class days.

Morris Area High School — Class 8A (June 22)

Morris Area had the standout day in Class 8A. The Novice team won the team championship with a total of 409. The Junior Varsity team also took first place with a team total of 438.

Individual honors included Owen Knobloch as Novice Male High Gun with a 90, Alayna Perkins as JV Female High Gun with a 90, Kyson Rose third among Novice males with an 82, and Braelynn Powell third among Novice females with a 77.

Minnewaska Area High School — Class 4A (June 18)

Minnewaska’s August Reichmann posted a perfect 100 — 100 straight — and won Varsity Male High Gun and Overall High Gun for the day. Reichmann took the overall title in a shoot-off, 10 to 7, over Tyler Turner of Spring Grove.

The Minnewaska JV team finished third in team totals with a 406.

Hancock High School — Class 3A (June 17)

Hancock’s Novice team finished third in team totals with a 372. Top scores on the squad included an 84, 76, 73, 72, and 67.

Herman-Norcross Community School — Class 1A (June 15)

Herman-Norcross turned in a strong Class 1A showing. Logan Kemper won JV Male High Gun with a 94. Zander Blume finished third among JV males with a 92.

Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley — Class 1A (June 15)

The CGB Junior Varsity team finished fifth in team totals with a 394. Teagan Cardwell led the JV male side with an 85, with Gabriel Dozak at 84. Summer Rixe topped the JV female side at 68.

Brandon-Evansville High School — Class 4A (June 18)

Brandon-Evansville’s Varsity team finished thirteenth in team totals with a 451. David Stroeing led the male side with a 96, and Jocelyn Schaffran topped the female side with a 91. Nikolas Perrin also broke 90 with a 90.

West Central Area High School — Class 4A (June 18)

West Central Area posted solid team finishes in Class 4A. The Novice team finished sixth in team totals with a 330. The JV team finished thirteenth with a 375. Gauge Eide led the JV male side with an 81.
