Lynx beat Las Vegas, Collier named to Olympics

(Las Vegas, NV) — All five starters scored in double figured and the Minnesota Lynx took down the two-time reigning W-N-B-A champs with a 100-86 win over the Las Vegas Aces last night in Nevada. The Lynx trailed by two after the first quarter before outscoring Vegas 49-29 over the next two frames. Alanna Smith poured in a team-high 18 points in the victory, while Kayla McBride chipped in with 16. Minnesota was 15-for-27 from three-point range in the victory. The 9-3 Lynx host Los Angeles on Friday night at the Target Center.

(Minneapolis, MN) — Minnesota Lynx All-Star forward Napheesa Collier is headed to the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Collier was officially named to the 12-player Team U-S-A roster yesterday in Las Vegas and given her number 11 red jersey: Her Lynx teammates were chanting “U-S-A, U-S-A,” after she met with a U-S Women’s National Team official. Collier won her first Olympic gold medal at the 2020 Summer Games in Tokyo which were delayed until 2021 due to the COVID pandemic. Cheryl Reeve of the Lynx is coaching Team U-S-A at the Summer Games in Paris and Collier will be playing in her second Olympics. Collier says she’s honored to be selected after being the youngest player on the roster in Tokyo.
