Lynx fall in OT, new WNBA team awarded
(Uncasville, CN) — DeWanna Bonner hit a pair of free throw with 7.4 seconds left in overtime to push the Sun past the Lynx 83-82 on Thursday night. The Lynx led by as much as 13 points but the Sun rallied led by Bonner’s 20 points along with Brionna Jones adding 19. Napheesa Collier had 21 points and 11 rebounds for Minnesota as the Lynx suffered their first loss of the season and fell to 2-1. The Lynx are back home tomorrow to host the Liberty at noon from Target Center. They’ll be in Atlanta on Sunday at 5 P-M.
(Toronto) — The W-N-B-A is expanding beyond the U.S. The league has awarded a franchise to Toronto that will begin play in the 2026 season. The team will become the W-N-B-A’s 14th team. In October, it was announced the Golden State Valkyries will begin play as the 13th team next year. The league’s expansion comes as it has seen games draw a record number of TV viewers to start this season with the arrival of rookie Caitlin Clark.
