Lynx open Commissioners Cup with win
The Minnesota Lynx made a statement in their Commissioner’s Cup opener last night, blasting the Phoenix Mercury, 111-77, in Phoenix.
Courtney Williams led the way with 30 points, shooting 13-of-20 from the floor, while rookie Olivia Miles added 19 points and nine assists. The win was Minnesota’s fifth straight and pushed the Lynx to 7-and-2 on the season, the best record in the WNBA. It also put Minnesota at 1-and-0 in Commissioner’s Cup play.
The Lynx dominated from the backcourt and never let Phoenix build any real momentum. For the Mercury, it was another rough night as they dropped to 2-and-8 and lost their sixth straight.
Minnesota is back in action Thursday night against the Golden State Valkyries.
