Lynx trade for a player, Draft completed
(Minneapolis, MN/Minnesota News Network) — The Minnesota Lynx had a busy W-N-B-A Draft day. Minnesota traded for Washington Mystics forward Karlie Samuelson yesterday. Minnesota sent a 2026 first-round pick to Washington to complete the deal. The 29-year-old averaged eight-and-a-half points per game with Washington last season. The Lynx drafted Anastasiia Olairi Kosu, Dalayah Daniels, and Aubrey Griffin last night. Kosu is a 19-year old player from Russia, while Daniels comes from teh University of Washington and Griffin played college ball at U-Conn.
(New York, NY/Minnesota News Network) — The worst-kept secret of the W-N-B-A draft is now a reality. U-Conn superstar Paige Bueckers of Hopkins went first-overall to Dallas. She averaged nearly 20 points per game for the national champion Huskies this past season. France center Dominique Malonga was selected second by Seattle while Washington grabbed Notre Dame guard Sonia Citron and U-S-C forward Kiki Iriafen with back-to-back picks. Expansion team Golden State took Lithuania guard Juste Jocyte to round out the top five selections. The W-N-B-A season begins next month.
