Madison Considers Cryptocurrency-Mining Facility

Madison officials are considering a proposal for a cryptocurrency-mining facility from Iowa-based Simple Mining.
The company is exploring a ten-megawatt operation using container-style computer-server units. City officials say the project could generate additional revenue for Madison’s municipal electric fund.

Noise restrictions are included in the project’s conditional-use requirements. However, electric-service, land and other operating agreements have not received final approval.
