MAN ARRESTED AFTER EARLY MORNING TUESDAY INCIDENT IN NEW ULM
The Brown County Sheriff’s Office and the state patrol are investigating an incident in New Ulm early Tuesday morning. Deputies say around 1 am Tuesday morning, the sheriff’s office requested assistance from the state patrol near Highway 14 and 37th Street for the report of a male suspect who had nearly struck an officer at Kwik Trip and then fled toward the river. Authorities started a pursuit of a Ford Fusion which eventually drove off the road, crossed a berm and continued southbound along the river before the suspect abandoned the vehicle near the community garden. The suspect, who has not been identified, fled on foot which prompted a multi-agency response that included setting up a perimeter, K-9 deployment, drones and canine tracking. Officers say they eventually spotted a male running near the German Street Townhomes. He was detained and arrested without incident. No other details have been released.
