Man Dies After Gas Explosion in Meeker County

A man was severely burned and later died after a gas explosion in a fish house Saturday morning in Meeker County.

The Sheriff’s Office says 46-year-old Jeffery Holmquist of Dassel was airlifted to HCMC in Minneapolis for treatment, but later died from his injuries.

At just before 7am, authorities were called to the residence in the 70000 Block of 178th Street on the northeast side of Lake Jennie in Collinwood Township.

The State Fire Marshall is assisting with the investigation.
