Marie Eblen, age 83 of Alexandria, Minnesota, formerly of Morris, MN, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Nelson Gables Assisted Living in Alexandria, MN.
Visitation for Marie Eblen will be held Friday, July 5, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris, MN.
Memorial services for Marie Eblen will be at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2024, at Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris, MN.
A private burial will be held at a later date in Chokio Lutheran Cemetery, rural Chokio, MN.
Marie and her twin sister Mary were born on April 21, 1941, in Chokio, MN the daughter of Mura “M.L.” & Amanda (Amborn) Collins. She grew up in Chokio where she attended school.
On January 28, 1959, she married John Eblen in Chokio. The couple made their home on a farm near Hancock where they raised their two daughters, Sharon and Penny.
Along with being a wife and mother, Marie worked outside the home at Villa of St Francis in Morris and retired from the Morris Public Library. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Morris, the VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Marie was an avid reader, often reading more than one book at a time. She also enjoyed traveling with family, and many bus tours with John, shopping, eating out, Sunday movies in Alexandria, loved desserts (always eat the dessert first) and made the best apple pie and banana bread. Being a mother and grandma was an honor for Marie. She enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters: Sharon (Jim) Spencer of Brandon, MN, and Penny (Shane) Hastings of Marshall, MN; four grandchildren: Alicia (Ryan) Pfaff, Erica (Brad) Flatin, Mandi Mahoney and Dallas (Morgan) Mahoney; seven great-grandchildren: Olivia Pfaff, Brady Pfaff, Brooke Flatin, Emma Flatin, Willow Mahoney, Waverly Mahoney, and River Mahoney; sister-in-law: Shirley Collins of Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her husband: John Eblen; parents: M.L. and Amanda Collins; brother: Jim Collins; and sister: Pearl (Raymond) Jipson, and twin sister: Mary (Donald) Jipson.
