Marilyn Audrey Ingerson Allen was born September 29, 1930, in Hankinson, North Dakota, to Ashley and Isabel (Johnson) Ingerson. In 1942, the Ingerson family moved to Browns Valley, Minnesota, where Marilyn made many life-long friends, was very active in school events, excelled academically, and graduated with honors in 1948.

On September 4, 1949, Marilyn married Gordon (Rock) Allen, and settled on the Allen farm near Beardsley, Minnesota where they raised their seven children. In 1974, the family moved to Morris. Marilyn worked at various businesses in Morris while being deeply involved in church, Al-Anon, and other volunteer work.

Marilyn most often found joy in simple pleasures such as gardening, braiding wool rugs, gathering with friends, playing with grandkids, or simply enjoying time on the deck with Rock and watching the birds, plants, and neighbors. Marilyn was known for her excellent lefse, rolling out hundreds of rounds every year for church sales and family. Even her computer repairman took payment through lefse.

After Gordon’s passing, Marilyn moved to Minnewaska Home in Starbuck, Minnesota and lived there until her passing on January 7, 2025, at the age of 94 years.

Marilyn is survived by her seven children: Katherine (Robert) Guyer, Erna (Brad) Angell, James (Andrea) Allen, Jon (Zinda) Allen, Julie (Tom) Crisp, Clifton (Cindy) Allen, and Vince (Gerry) Allen; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Gordon Allen; parents: Ashley and Isabel Ingerson; sisters: Mildred (Walter) Ziegelman, Ione (Bernard) Bigley, and Virgil (Elmer) Holst; brother: Vincent Ingerson; grandson: Derek Allen.
