Mary was born on April 15, 1946, in Morris, MN, to Charlie and Bertina Tomoson and was raised in Alberta, MN. Growing up in a large family taught her the importance of hard work, resilience, and family—values she carried with her throughout her life.
Above all else, Mary treasured her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose greatest joy came from simply being together and making memories with the people she loved.
Mary will be remembered for her contagious laugh, quick wit, and wonderful sense of humor. She loved telling jokes—even if she occasionally forgot the punchline halfway through—and somehow that only made everyone laugh even harder.
She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed spending afternoons doing word finds, watching Little House on the Prairie, taking long car rides simply for the joy of seeing where the road might lead, and putting together jigsaw puzzles, especially those featuring Native American scenes. Many of those puzzles became treasured keepsakes, carefully glued together with the help of her brother, Clifford, so they could be proudly displayed on the wall.
Some of Mary’s favorite days were the ordinary ones—sharing coffee with her brother Clifford, chatting about life, working on puzzles together, and enjoying the comfort of having her best friend right next door. Their lifelong bond was one of love, laughter, and unwavering friendship, and those everyday moments became some of the memories she treasured most.
Mary also had a special place in her heart for animals, especially her beloved cat, Clyde, whose companionship brought her comfort, laughter, and unconditional love.
Mary had a remarkable way of making ordinary days feel special. Her greatest legacy is not found in the things she owned, but in the family she raised, the laughter she shared, and the countless memories she created. She leaves behind a lifetime of love that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
