Mauer officially in the Hall, Twins swept by Brewers

(Cooperstown, NY) — Former Twins catcher Joe Mauer was officially inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. Mauer was a first-ballot inductee after winning three batting titles as a catcher. The St. Paul-native was drafted by his hometown team with the first overall pick in the 2001 M-L-B Draft. Mauer spent his entire career with Minnesota, playing with the club from 2004 until 2018. Mauer was also named the 2009 A-L M-V-P after hitting .365 with 28 home runs. Mauer thanked his late father and grandfather for their belief in his abilities, and thanked his mother for teaching him that it was more important to be a good person than a good player. Mauer is the seventh player to be inducted into the Hall Of Fame as a Minnesota Twin.
