Mavericks Picked To Win NSIC Soccer Crown
(Burnsville, MN) — The Minnesota State-Mankato women’s soccer team has been chosen as the preseason favorite to win the NSIC Women’s Soccer championship in a survey of the league’s head coaches.
The defending champion Mavericks received ten first-place votes, followed by St. Cloud, which was chosen second and earned four first-place votes. Bemidji State was tabbed third, followed by U-Mary, which also garnered a first-place vote.
Augustana was picked fifth, followed by Concordia-St. Paul, Northern State, Minnesota-Duluth, Minot State, Southwest Minnesota State, and Wayne State.
The NSIC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year is Northern State senior forward Megan Fastenau of Aberdeen, South Dakota.
U-Mary senior defender Mo Malone of Placentia, California is the league’s Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.
Non-conference action begins September 5th.
