Mayville State Quarterback Shows Encouraging Signs After Brain Injury

The family of Mayville State quarterback Matthew Donovan says he is showing small but encouraging signs while recovering from a serious brain injury.

Family members say Donovan has coughed independently, attempted to blink and moved one of his legs. Doctors are also reducing some of his medication.

Donovan remains hospitalized in Fargo after undergoing emergency brain surgery following Saturday’s game against Simpson University.

His family says he still faces a lengthy recovery.
