McCollum Criticizes HHS for Cancelling $12 Million in Public Health Grants

(Learfield News/Washington, DC) — Congresswoman Betty McCollum is criticizing the White House for cancelling more than 12 million dollars in public health grants for Minnesota.

The U-S Department of Health and Human Services plans to cut a total of 600 million dollars in grants to Minnesota, California, Colorado, and Illinois.

McCollum accused H-H-S of sitting on their hands amid a measles outbreak and said, “it is outrageous that the Trump Administration is now punishing Democratic states by stripping funding for our public health systems.”

A spokesperson for H-H-S said the grants are being terminated because they don’t reflect the agency’s priorities.
