MDA Seeks Input on Large Dairy Operations
The Minnesota Department of Agriculture is asking residents and industry workers to comment on the social and economic effects of large-scale dairy operations.
The effort follows public discussion surrounding the proposed expansion of West River Dairy near Morris. State agriculture officials are looking for input from dairy farmers, veterinarians, milk haulers, local businesses and community residents.
The department is studying how dairies with approximately 10-thousand or more cows affect local economies, employment, communities and quality of life.
Two virtual public meetings are scheduled for Tuesday, July 28th—one at noon and another at 7:30 P-M. Comments can also be submitted through an online form. The findings will be compiled into a report for the Minnesota Legislature. Minnesota Department of Agriculture
