Minnesota 988 Lifeline Surpasses 370,000 Contacts

Minnesota’s 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline has answered more than 370,000 calls, texts and online chats since launching in July of 2022.

The Minnesota Department of Health says demand continues to grow. Lifeline centers handled about 83,000 contacts during the first six months of this year.

The milestone comes as Minnesota’s suicide rate increased slightly in 2025 after declining during the previous two years. State officials continue working to ensure Minnesotans know that support is available.
