Minnesota Agriculture in the Classroom Marks 40 Years

Minnesota Agriculture in the Classroom is celebrating 40 years of helping students understand where their food comes from and how agriculture affects everyday life.

Executive Director Ann Marie Ward says the program has grown into a statewide partnership supported by commodity groups, organizations and individuals.

Its free curriculum incorporates agriculture into subjects including science, social studies, language arts and nutrition while meeting Minnesota academic standards.

The program reports reaching nearly 160,000 students during the latest school year and being used in 88 percent of Minnesota public school districts. Minnesota Agriculture in the Classroom Foundation
