Minnesota Establishes Sexual-Assault Investigation Standards
Minnesota is implementing its first comprehensive statewide guidelines for law-enforcement investigations of sexual assault.
The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says the guide establishes consistent, victim-centered practices for agencies across the state.
The standards cover survivor support, evidence collection, suspect interviews, case documentation and procedures following a conviction.
The guide provides recommended practices for local law-enforcement agencies rather than replacing state law or individual agency policies.
