Minnesota Job Growth Outpaces Nation Over Past Year

Minnesota added more than 44,000 jobs over the past year, growing at a faster rate than the nation as a whole.

New state figures show Minnesota employment increased 1.5 percent from July of last year, compared with national growth of two-tenths of one percent. The state’s unemployment rate fell slightly to 4.3 percent in July.

The latest monthly numbers were more mixed. Minnesota lost 1,900 jobs in July, while the labor force participation rate slipped to 66.9 percent.
