Minnesota State Warns Campus Mergers or Closures May Be Needed

Financial pressures could force major changes within the Minnesota State college and university system.
Chancellor Scott Olson says possible options include merging institutions, consolidating administrative services or closing campuses.

About one-quarter of the system’s institutions are expected to trigger financial-health warnings by the end of the year. Minnesota State operates 33 colleges and universities across 54 campuses.
Officials have not identified any campus for closure, and no final decisions have been made.
