Minnesota Woman Sues Chipotle After Salmonella Illness

A Minnesota woman is suing Chipotle after she says a restaurant meal led to a severe Salmonella infection.

According to the federal lawsuit, Kristen Behne ate a chicken burrito bowl at the chain’s Roseville location on June 24th. She became ill several days later and was hospitalized with Salmonella and sepsis.

The complaint alleges raw jalapeños were used in several ingredients in Behne’s meal.

Federal health officials have linked a multistate outbreak to jalapeños from Sinaloa, Mexico. Chipotle and QDOBA removed the affected peppers, and officials say there is no current ongoing risk at those restaurants, although the broader investigation remains open.

The lawsuit’s claims have not been decided in court.
