MINOR CHEMICAL SPILL NEAR EAGLE LAKE

A semi rollover  on the eastside of Mankato caused a minor chemical spill Tuesday.  Blue Earth County authorities were called a little before 4 on the County Road 12 roundabout to Highway 14.  The chemical was diluted calcium chloride commonly used as dust suppressant on gravel roads.  Authorities say hundreds of gallons leaked before it could be secured and the semi pulled back onto its tires.  The Minnesota Duty officer was notified and environmental impact is expected to be minimal.  The driver of the semi, 52-year-old Jason Smebak of Little Falls was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.  The state patrol is investigating the incident.  Eagle Lake Fire and Mayo Ambulance assisted at the scene.
