Minor Injuries in Stearns County Bus Crash

Several children suffered minor injuries when a bus crashed into a tree in Stearns County Monday afternoon in Richmond.

The Sheriff’s Office says the bus was traveling southbound on Jay Avenue south of Highway 23 when the bus left the road near a curve, entered the ditch, and hit a tree.

Seventy-two-year-old Thomas Hedburg of Sartell was driving the bus.

Several occupants sustained minor injuries, primarily small cuts caused by broken glass from the front window. About 30 children were aboard the bus at the time.

Parents were notified, and the children were released to their parents or guardians at the scene.

Authorities say drugs or alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors in the crash.
